Welcome to the Commons Equestrian Association Web site!
Dedicated to preserving a horse-friendly environment for
the residents of The Commons.
The Commons Equestrian Association was formed by a group of
community residents that identified a serious need to work toward providing
a safe and exciting trail system with a primary use of horseback riding.
Together with the HOA, they have worked for the past two years to catalogue
existing trails, document where improvements are necessary and prioritize
the repairs. Further, they have organized work groups that have
significantly improved trail conditions. They continue to evaluate and
repair the trails through time and remain dedicated toward their goal of
providing an outstanding riding experience for the CEA and others who use
our trails.
The CEA has expanded over the course of the past two years
and in addition to the emphasis placed on trails, also provides educational
opportunities for members. Over the past year clinics have been held on
subjects such as maintaining healthy grazing conditions in your pasture,
horse training, horsemanship and other pertinent and timely topics.
Fun is also a priority of the CEA. They plan and organize
numerous activities through the year such as Play Days, Christmas Parade,
Beach Ride, and theme oriented trail rides such as the recently held Mardi
Gras ride which ended in a delicious gumbo fest. These events are held
frequently throughout the year.
The CEA currently has a membership in excess of 50 families
and growing. Membership dues are collected annually and the funds are
designated to be used for a variety of purposes including supporting our
local 4H group and a Commons based Special Olympics Equestrian team. As the
organization grows, we will be evaluating additional community needs related
to horses and will look toward providing funds and manpower to provide
future facilities.
